ADR Class 7 Radioactives Course

ADR Initial Class 7 Radioactives Course £200 (excluding VAT)

The ADR Regulations regard the Class 7 Radioactives module as a specialisation course, drivers will need to attend the Core module first before adding Class 7 Radioactives module to their ADR card. This Class 7 specialisation course does not cover any other aspect of the ADR course.

On successful completion of this module, the candidate should have sufficient knowledge to be able to effectively carry out their role as a driver for carriage of Radioactives in class 7 throughout the UK and Europe, as specified in the cur-rent ADR and Domestic Regulations, if an attendant is used, they must have commensurate training for Class 7.

The course duration is a full day, and the examination will take place at the end of the course, this consists of 25 multiple-choice questions and a pass mark of 70% is required. A single exam of £20 is online with a laptop provided on the course, upon passing the exams, the Driver Training Certificate that is in the form of a card is issued by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA). Results are issued at the end of the course and candidates would typically receive their ADR certificate within a week.

The ADR certificate is valid for 5 years, the qualification can be retained for another five years by attending a refresher course and passing the subsequent examinations. The Class 7 Radioactives Course is on a Saturday and is taken after the Core module. However, those refreshing their Class 7 can attend before attending the Core module.

This Class 7 Radioactives module will be delivered in accordance with the prescribed standards in a classroom environment with relevant class participation, together with the use of illustrative examples and visual aids. Each candidate will receive an illustrative booklet covering Class 7.

The course will have the following learning objectives

  • Definition of Ionising Radiation and the characteristics of all Radioactives
  • Protection from Radiation
  • Packaging types, marking and labelling of Radioactives
  • Loading, unloading and carriage of Radioactives
  • Operational rules and the responsibilities of the consignors, carriers, consignees, and drivers
  • Special measures to be taken in the event of an accident or incident involving a vehicle carrying Radioactives

Initial and Refresher Class 7 Radioactives courses have two written scenario exercises as part of the training evaluation.

Mobile accreditation allows us to deliver ADR Courses onsite at Company premises where suitable facilities are available, the exams can still be online.
